Re: “Very Scary Halloween Costumes

Bravo David!!!!!!!
Loved this look at costumes...I thought I was the only one disgusted (confused? worried?) by the Costume City flyer (tome). What is going on here?

I'm so pleased that a man is taking a look at this situation. When a woman is pissed off about the huge selection of "costumes" for women that are all identical, she is so quickly dismissed for being uptight or just "angry" or just annoying.

Questions: Who buys these costumes? Are they not humiliating? Seriously lacking in imagination? A throwback to, I don't know, worse times for women in general? A strange and limited idea of sexy? When did Holloween mean sexy ("sexy") only? What happened to dressing as famous, outrageous, interesting women in history? Or as famous, outrageous, interesting men? Or as something scary? (Okay, these costumes we are commenting on are scary...)

David, thank you again for just saying something about this big pink elephant in our mailboxes at this time of year. And, the elephant is pink, so it must be a girl--better stuff some stilettos on it, squish some cleavage together, maybe a tu-tu, a glittery wand, a tiara, and fishnet stockings, too. And, David, I appreciate your keen observations, your sense of humor, and your ability to be outraged. It is healthy.

Be well!
