Learn About the Evolution of Black/Queer Nations

Jafari S. Allen, UA Associate Professor of Anthropology and Miami Initiative on Race, Gender and Sexuality founder, will discuss the development of the translocal black and queer public sphere that began to surface in the 1980s, as well as its political and cultural expression demonstrated in the 1990s. Expect to learn about the impact queer, black drag queens, activists, artists, pornographers and more had on the movement. Starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 in the UA's Center for Creative Photography. For more info, go to www.lgbt.arizona.edu.
