Re: “The Skinny

My spouse is a Democrat and has received her early ballot. I am a Libertarian who has chosen to vote in the Republican primary. However, we discuss politics, and candidates.

She (and I) are so disgusted with the mud and the lies that Matt Heinz and Ann Kirkpatrick are throwing at each other on the airwaves, that she filled out her ballot with someone else.

My thoughts on Kirkpatrick are that she, in this campaign, has repudiated everything she has ever stood for (I used to respect her), and even if she wins the primary, I don't think she can veer back far enough to the center to win a general election.

Re: “Lefty Appeal

Kenneth Groves, I believe you have the scenario totally reversed. The media, celebrities, and the activists have moved the centerline to the 75 yard line, but in the other direction.

However, I do agree with you that Goldwater would not be welcome in today's Republican Party. He was way too libertarian.

However, on the Democratic side, John F Kennedy would not be welcome in today's Democratic Party.

The problem with both mainline parties is that they think they know better than you what is good for you, and will not hesitate to use the power of government to enforce their views.

Re: “Negative Zone

Kirkpatrick has veered so far left in her battle with Heinz, that I do not believe she can come far enough back toward the middle to win in the general election, even if she wins the primary.

The current tone of her campaign ads repudiate everything she has ever stood for..

Re: “Lefty Appeal

Please do not call Ann Kirkpatrick a moderate. I used to respect her, and would have considered voting for her.

However, the tenor of her current ad campaign repudiates everything she has ever stood for. She has veered off the charts left to try and outflank Matt Heinz.

I want some of what Skinnyman is smoking.

His rant is so far out there, it could be circling the planet Jupiter.

Re: “Danehy

The illegal immigration problem will not be solved until we fix the legal immigration system, which is broken.

We as a nation have always relied upon the next wave of immigrants (Italians, Irish, Poles, etc) to do the work that the previous wave no longer are willing to do, as they have realized their piece of the American Dream.

That problem has not gone away. However, the next wave of immigrants have.

And don't give me that crap about if they paid enough, there are workers available. That is not the case, and never has been..

David did not make one salient argument as to why the rankings are wrong.
