Re: “Center for Creative Photography

With an unparalleled archive, the CCP could have blockbuster shows one after another if they wished. As the current Wynn Bullock show indicates, the CCP partners with other illustrious archives and museums to dazzle one's senses.

Re: “Paradise Lost

Having read all the comments by both the Sunflower residents, and the others who chose to write, I am reminded that that there are always more sides to a story than two. The 1950 movie "Rashomon" is famous, per Wikipedia, for the following quotes, "The film is known for a plot device that involves various characters providing alternative, self-serving and contradictory versions of the same incident."
"The term Rashomon effect refers to real-world situations in which multiple eye-witness testimonies of an event contain conflicting information." The movie was given an honorary Academy Award in 1952 and is considered one of the all time great films. It is well worth viewing and discussing.

Perhaps all parties overreacted but, as a Gay married man, in a 27 year relationship with his partner/ husband, I am aware of misunderstandings that have nothing to do with sexual preferences. We both have children, grandchildren and many straight friends. Usually situational misunderstandings are just that...misunderstandings. I suggest that the Gay couple try to attend HOA Board meetings, participate in community social events, get to know a few more homeowners and then determine if they are being singled out as "different". My husband and I have three small homes in which we live: Tubac, Tucson and Chicago. We do not feel discriminated against in any of our communities or HOA. Patience and knowledge might help all involved to resolve this sad event.

Re: “On Eagle’s Wings

Having seen the Arizona Biennial show at the Member's Opening, I can assure you that, armed with Ms. Regan's critique, I will spend several more hours revisiting the show. It is one of depth and complexity and must not be visited casually.

Re: “Guest Opinion

At the request of a reader, I found the links to two articles in the Arizona Daily Star.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Yesterday I was finally able to find time to read the 15 page article, written by UA English Department Professor John Warnock, which is available at tucson.com online. The article, an expanded version of one published in the Arizona Daily Star, a month ago, tells the history of the Kramer house and the surrounding Potter property. A really good read!!

Re: “Fed Up

Some day Southern Arizona will have to convince the rest of the State to vote for Democrats. Education is more important than ever yet many feel it's a private issue and not one for the population as a whole. I like to think that education is as important a right as food and water...and they are in short supply these days as well.

Re: “UA Marches Toward Sports-Obsessed Madness

As I greatly enjoyed a Gala Event last night at the University of Arizona Museum of Art where the current show is a display of major world class Art as part of their 1/2 Billion (accurate figure per a recent appraisal by Sotheby's of the collection) dollar collection, I could not help but wish that some of the $$$ spent on UA athletics could spill over to support the Museum, which is struggling to care for and add to their spectacular, and little known collection. Maybe Sean Miller could help with attracting dollars to more at the UA than basketball. After all, a great Research University is more than athletics. (And yes, as a UA graduate, I do want my University to win the championship!!
