La Santa Cecilia has basically become the house band of Tucson's soul (non-resident edition) becoming regulars to our music scene with their beautiful brand of cumbia, corridos, mambo and rock 'n' roll. Lead singer Marisol "La Marisoul" Hernandez is like our cousin or little sister, and every time they visit they seem to leave some hope behind. Well, they return to leave that hope on Friday, Oct. 17, 8 p.m. at Mercado San Agustin, 100 S. Avenida Del Convento in Menlo Park. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and the show benefits the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project. Our own DJ Dirtyverbs will open the event—easy preparation to get us on our feet and dancing for this Grammy-award-winnning Los Angeles band.
