Re: “The Skinny

E gads. This is the largest mole hill to hit Tucson since the great parking space scandle of 1980. Citizens rights are being violated as we speak! Its time to make a citizens arrest and show Huckleberry that not sending a memo to everybody is an absolute slap in the face to outraged citizens everywhere who elected supervisors precisely to read those memos. Or not.

Apparently, people inside the republican bubble are not paranoid about traffic cops like the rest of us. I am living proof that cops enforce the traffic law arbitrarily. When they ask you, Do you know why I pulled you over?, I say; Ummm, you were bored?, You havent made your unofficial quota, yet?, The heat made you do it?, You would rather harass law abiding citizens instead of catching real criminals?. I have a drawer full of their responses.

Re: “Moneyball Jr.

For all it's corruption and greed and abuse, the "club system" does a fair job of producing world class athletes. Being a geezer, I have seen rookies in professional sports get better and better each year. It seems that the goal of the club system grinder is to winnow out the chaff, so to speak, and create the best future professional players they can from the remaining elite...for a profit! Nothing wrong with that. School sports are a different beast but not entirely different. Sports scholarships, otherwise known as "jockships", throws money at the problem of getting the best talent onboard. The graduation rate of basketball players at the U of A is pretty dismal. The guys that get those Jockships are certainly no scholars. Witness the one and done syndrome in college sports today. Danehy may not like the color of the AAUs money, but he can't argue with success. I'll make sure to buy an extra cupcake to help fund his basketball team, though.

Psychology is actually quite useful in explaining "pup parent" behavior. Maternal behavior towards dogs can be helpful but usually it gets out of hand and the molly coddling, baby talking, and over feeding is harmful to the dog. It starts to see itself as a human and not as a dog which leads it to bad behaviors like being vicious to other dogs and snapping and growling when it feels that it is being ignored. It was only a few years ago that the Oxford dictionary added the term "fur baby". It is a nasty trend that should be discouraged.

Divisive politics are here to stay. Its easy to inculcate outparty animus, and its contagious too! There is more to life than Trumps lying tweets and his myopic apologists. If you let politics tear your friendships apart, youve already lost the good fight.

Tom, People who claim that something is unthinkable or inconceivable are doomed to eat their words. Die hard dinosaurs like you are still rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers. I used to go to Sidewinders games. Now, I go to FC Tucson games at a stadium built specifically for soccer. Dont be so parochial.

One side effect of the decision is that it will draw people away from the Indian casinos. This could severely impact the main source of income for many Native-American tribes.
