There is a lot of history for that place. Very Sad indeed. When the UofA expanded south, they forced Zacks to move into their current location which the UofA also owns. A long time ago a UofA chemist created a beer recipe just for them called the old bumler and the story goes that Nimbus was contracted to produce the beer for them. Well Nimbus was sold and along went that recipe. The story goes that Nimbus' Monkey Shine Beer is actually the recipe for Zack's old bumler. Whether the story is true or not I have not verified but would make a pretty interesting story. Maybe the Weekly could help Zack's go out with a bang and use some little investigative journalism to get to the bottom of this. Maybe that way, Zack's could possibly rise again, for if the story is true then maybe some royalties could be do. Either way, they will be missed by many alumni and long lost friends.

    Re: “Being Baldenegro
Sal was an instrumental part in me staying at the University of Arizona. I decided to attend the UofA in 1995 because it was affordable and at the time Manuel Pacheco was the University of Arizona President. I had a class both taught by President Pacheco and Sal. Sal effected my life in and outside the classroom. He was always there for me beyond topics that touched on academics such as not giving up and enduring. My family was hundereds of miles away in California but Sal and his nature provided a home away from home. Never did I get the sense or was my arm twisted to take over America and make it Mexico. His classes taught me to be a critical thinker. I took many Mexican American Studies classes taught at the UofA and also took many Political Science classes. The parallel did wonders for my critical thinking ability.
And Sal Jr, well he played soccer with us in UofA intramural sports. I am impressed and inspired by his conviction to burn his own path and make a difference. Courage. Courage is what he is displaying. I would have stayed in DC even though the cold would have killed me. Arizona needs Sal Sr. and Jr. The political environment and rhetoric that is spewing out of maricopa county is killing this state. Tell me how many companies have moved to AZ to do business here. How many parents have reconsidered sending their kids to school in this state because of the non-sense. The idiots in Phoenix are killing this state and time for everyone to wake up. The Baldenegro family is one family but perhaps everyone for once needs to stand up. Make some noise.
