Re: “Times They Are A Changin'

@magro - I think the vast majority of us are in favor of increased urban density and see infill development as a great alternative to sprawl. We want that development to be done intelligently and responsibly. What we don't want is to endanger a great ecosystem of local, independent businesses that's flourishing economically and making a difference to people who are looking at visiting or moving to Tucson. Additionally, I personally don't like us trying to carve out exceptions to our existing historic preservation, like what's happening with the Maloney's proposal and and in Armory Park. There are plenty of areas to build in our urban core that don't threaten Tucson's historic and economic treasures. And yes, I'd also expect major parts of the CBA to be about sustainability and walkabilty.

P.S. - if you're interested in helping set the priorities for the CBA, we do have a survey in our Save 4th Ave. Facebook group where you can weigh in. We should also have a link to the survey up next week at *fingers crossed*.

Re: “Times They Are A Changin'

Hey there, guy in the photo here. First off, good job by Danyelle talking to so many of the involved parties. Second, I feel like that "Private Property Rights Protection Act" was passed with the big scare of eminent domain looming, and it frightened Arizona voters in to voting for it. I'd love to see either amendment by the AZ Legislature or a ballot initiative to focus the language of the law on eminent domain and not prevent all downzoning. Currently every Arizona municipality is hamstrung, from a zoning perspective, by this AZ law. If even for an street like 4th Ave., where there's currently nothing taller than that tiki head, can't be appropriately zoned to prevent a 75 foot tall building right on the street, we have a problem. Third: get involved -
