Mark Wahlberg plays Vince Papale, who started playing for the Philadelphia Eagles football team when he was 30. The movie embellishes the story a little bit, but its forgivable, because its done effectively. Wahlberg is credible in the role of an underdog who makes it big, and first-time feature director Ericson Core, a former cinematographer, is successful in capturing the essence of football. There are plenty of bone-crunching tackles, and theres a tremendous sense that Wahlberg is actually participating in games. The films soundtrack features an assortment of 70s rock songs that are decent and not too obvious. (Jackson Brownes These Days is a nice touch.) Ive seen a couple of critics complain about the title of the movie, but I think it got its name because Vince is actually in the word Invincible.
