Art therapist Deborah Purdy believes in a direct connection between meditation, mindfulness and creativity. She prefers art methods that aim at unlearning the critical voices instilled in us through social learning. Purdy will host an interactive workshop on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Murphy-Wilmot Branch Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. Her workshop will be a no-judgment zone where artists are told not to think too deeply about atheistic or end result. Rather, the focus is centered on the experience of creating as a means of connecting with a deeper sense of self and spirituality. One activity will involve making a mandala. The class is free. The library event page has more information.
