Interview with the Assassin

Why are baby boomers so obsessed with the Kennedy assassination? I mean, c’mon, he’s dead, let’s move on, eh? Well, director/writer Neil Burger gets all Oliver Stone with the idea in Interview with the Assassin, a fake documentary about a man who may or may not have been the second gunman. Cameraman Ron Kobeleski (Dylan Haggerty) meets an old man who claims to have conclusive evidence that he killed Kennedy. Following him around the country, from grassy knoll to conservative conspiracy, Kobeleski is drawn into a series of ever-more criminal occurrences until things spin wildly out of control. This is a fun movie, and Raymond Barry is hilarious as assassin Walter Ohlinger, but I don’t think it was meant to be a comedy. Still, it works as one, especially for those like myself who were born in 1925 and/or 1975 and don’t much care about anything Kennedy-related, unless it involves Ted without trousers.

Interview with the Assassin is not showing in any theaters in the area.
