How She Move

This film is not a lesson on subject/verb agreement; it’s a string of mediocre dance videos tied together by an attempt at a plot. Writer Annmarie Morais’ story of a dancing diva hitting the competition circuit—seeking prize money so that she can leave her dangerous neighborhood and her dead sister behind—is irrelevant. The point of director Ian Rashid’s feature is to document newcomer Rutina Wesley and other unknowns as they try to pull off choreographer Hi-Hat’s moves to the beats of Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. It’s a shame that the dance scenes aren’t more impressive.
