Re: “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Decent CGI work is ruined with cheezy dialog and a derivative plot borrowed from the 007 movies of yester year. One aspect of the film that I enjoyed was the attempt by the sceen writer to incorporate nearly every significate charater used in the G.I. Joe as well as Hasbro's marketing slogans. The phrases "kung-fu action grip", "real american hero", and "Dr. Mindbender" hidden within the characters dialog were the sorts of jokes only a 30-something Robot-Chicken fan like myself can appreciate. If you didn't enjoy "G.I. Joe" as a tyke, I don't expect you will enjoy it now.

Re: “Incoherent Fantasies

To me, the director cherry picked dynamic visual scenes from other movies (X-Men, Kill Bill, Hell Boy,I Robot, etc) renacted by P-Cat Doll clones and made it into a movie. The plot is introduced in the first ten minutes, strangle with its umbilical cord, then resussitated for the final ten minutes of the movie. The attempt of a story within a story within a story was bold (and also pinched from a recent movie), but was full of holes.Visually stuning though especially on an IMAX screen when I saw it.
