Get Your Cardboard On

It's less than a month before the Cardboard Ball, the annual fundraiser for the All Souls Procession Workshops organized each year by All Souls co-founder and Tucson artist Mykl Wells. So the countdown has begun for you to get your cardboard on, Tucson.

Prepare yourself: Gather ye cardboard, create some art and build your cardboard costume with the Prep for Cardboard Battle on Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Xerocraft, 101 W. Sixth St. The Women's Trans Femme (WTF) group from Xerocraft is organizing a cardboard battle at the ball, so this meeting is to design the rules, promote the event and best of all—make cardboard weapons. For more info, search for the event's Facebook page. Part of the Cardboard Ball is celebrating exhibited art. Three-dimensional art work is wanted (keep adult themes low key, since kiddos attend the ball, too). Bring your cardboard art to Maker House, 283 N. Stone Ave., on Friday, Sept. 26, from noon to 8 p.m. Go to Facebook event page Cardboard Ball Call For ART!, for more info.

The Cardboard Ball is Saturday, Sept. 27 at Maker House. It's what organizers describe as "Our corrugated-fashion-forward, crazy-artsy, boogie-in-your-recyclable-best party." Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
