Frost/Nixon

Michael Sheen and Frank Langella are captivating as David Frost and Richard Nixon, subjects of one of the more monumental interviews in television history. Frost managed to secure the first one-on-one interview with Nixon post-resignation, and director Ron Howard does a terrific job of telling the stories behind this event. Langella is especially good as Nixon, treating the interview like a war; he’s determined to win something that doesn’t require winning. Sheen does a nice job conveying the amazingly calm attitude of a man who is risking everything to talk to Nixon. The film also features great supporting performances from Sam Rockwell, Oliver Platt and Kevin Bacon. Patty McCormack, who played the title character in The Bad Seed, plays Pat Nixon. That’s pretty cool casting.
