Re: “Tucson Teens March for their Lives

Let us look at the NRA, Gun Control Laws and the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution.

"....The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers and will generally even if these are successful the first instance enable the people to resist and triumph over them....." Story, Joseph (1833) Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States. Boston: Hilliard, Gray and Company. Cambridge: Brown, Shattuck, and Co. Volume III, page 746747, 1890.

The NRA advocacy of the 2nd Amendment is completely Bogus!! As Justice Story has said, the 2nd Amendment was incorporated into our Constitution to effect Political Change by Assassination ! Both President Lincoln and President Jefferson believed in the Assassination of Political Leaders as a means for Political Changes in Our Democracy. (Abraham Lincoln's First Inaugural Address March 4, 1861; Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, Paris, 13 Nov. 1787).

The 2nd Amendment of our Constitution Must be repealed. The 2nd Amendment and Gun Control Laws will NOT change Human Behavior. Once again, we have little or no sense of Community; a Critical/Lethal Defect in our Democracy when it is necessary for Citizens to Arm themselves for protection from other Citizens and to effect Political Change!!

Re: “Tucson Teens March for their Lives

Gun Control is but a "Band Aid" approach to the Violence in our Communities!!! We have Little or NO sense of Community; a Failure of the Fundamental Importance of Public Education in our Democracy: teaching Citizens to Understand and Respect the Diversity in our Democracy: that the very nature of our Democracy creates a Complementary/Interactive, Mutual Dependent Social System with the Requirement to provide Assistance to others when Assistance is Necessary.

There is Critical/Lethal Defect in our Democracy if it is necessary for Citizens to Arm themselves for Protection from other Citizens:

Violence Begets Violence: Gospel of Matthew, verse 26:52. The passage depicts a disciple (identified in the Gospel of John as Saint Peter) drawing a sword to defend against the arrest of Jesus but being told to sheath his weapon:

"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."

".....Remember Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes exhausts and murders itself. There never was a Democracy Yet, that did not commit suicide......" From John Adams to John Taylor, 17 December 1814

Re: “Let's Hear It For Teachers In Red, and a State Budget In the Black

"Critical Thinking"... mere shibboleth if not Objectively Measured!

It is the very nature of a Standardized Examination like AzMerit to have the Student Critically Analyze the Question and Determine the Best Solution.

Re: “Let's Hear It For Teachers In Red, and a State Budget In the Black

Teacher pay increases should NOT be "across the board" but based on Merit as Indicated by Student Performance on AzMerit so as to determine if Students are being taught properly and/or effectively learning the required body of information per Subject Area so as to achieve their Career Goals.. This is the sole purpose of Standardized Assessment Examinations. AzMerit is such an Assessment Examination and will indicate the effectiveness of the Schools/Districts Academic Programs, so that, if necessary, remedial action can be taken.

A Bad/Ineffective instructional Program should NOT be rewarded with a Pay Increase!!!

Re: “Zona Politics: State Rep. Pamela Powers Hannley and State Sen. Andrea Dalessandro

RE: Bill requiring testing of medical marijuana for contaminants passes Arizona Senate.

".....And Rep. Pamela Powers Hanley, D-Tucson, objected to anything claiming there are dangers in marijuana since it is a plant that never killed anybody......"

"Marijuana pipe found in car of driver charged in crash that killed Ann Day"; Carmen Duarte Arizona Daily Star May 12, 2016.

"Fatal road crashes involving marijuana double after state legalizes drug": Science News, May 10, 2016. Source: AAA

Summary: "Fatal crashes involving drivers who recently used marijuana doubled in Washington after the state legalized the drug, according to the latest research..........Washington was one of the first two states to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, and these findings raise serious concerns about drug-impaired driving with at least 20 states considering marijuana legalization this year."

Rep. Pamela Powers Hannley, D-Tucson, should educated herself before making such a blatantly false statement and endangering the Health and Safety of Arizona Citizens. She must be booted out of the Arizona Legislature!!!

Re: “Dreamers Still in Limbo After Dems Cave Over Shutdown

"We're going to morph into it," Trump told reporters Wednesday. "It's going to happen, at some point in the future, over a period of 10 to 12 years." Trump's 10 to 12 year plan is an impediment to the Citizenship process.

Members of Congress should know from experience that Trump is a Mentally Unstable Habitual Liar. He has no intention of granting Citizenship to individuals brought to this country as Children. He wants/intends to have them deported to Countries of which they have no practical knowledge or experiences.

Congress has Constitutional Coequal Powers and should use them in granting Citizenship to these approximately 700,000 defacto US Citizens. Trump's role in this process, and generally regarding Domestic and National Security Issues, must be marginalized!

Donald Trump's denigration of anyone that disagrees with him and his characterization of information about him in the Press as "fake news" are symptomatic of: an Unstable Personality or an intentional effort to undermine the underpinning of our Democracy; Free Speech and a Free Press.

Any Objective Analysis of the Facts clearly indicates that: Donald Trump is a Racist Neo Nazi, an Inveterate Liar, and Mentally Unstable. He is a threat to our Constitutionally Protected Freedoms and Nationally Security, and, as such, he MUST be Removed from Office Forthwith!!!

Re: “A Comparative Look at TUSD's AzMERIT Scores

".....Does this mean Tucson schools are doing a poorer job educating their students than schools in other districts with similar demographics? ..." Answer...YES!!!

The only Objective and Reliable method to assess Student Achievement at each Grade Level, i.e., that Students are Taught and Learning the body of information/skills that they need to achieve their Career Goals, are Standardized Assessment Examinations like AzMerit/Common Core!! If they are not, as is TUSD, remedial Action is Required/Necessary.
