Re: “Hidden Agenda?

Dear readers,

First of all, as a proud graduate from this high school, I would like to make it clear that I was treated with complete respect by the entire faculty and administration and learned a great deal of subjects from a diverse group of teachers which included Americans, Turks, and several natives. These accusations by the parent are quite ridiculous, and while this parent much have such an opinion, they have no proof to back up their outrageous claim. The educational atmosphere of this school is one of the most rewarding in my opinion and I have never before seen any Turkish teacher try to promote a Nationalist Movement. You don't simply judge the entire school based on the fact that it's run by a Turkish faculty and immediately connect it to the Gulen movement because it's simply suggesting something that you have no substantial evidence of.

Karatas on the other hand has full interest in moving this school forward by making sure the students are given the necessary tools to excel in their academics and extracurricular activities and I have seen that first hand when I became a graduate who visits the school occasionally to meet his teachers, therefore I don't see why people must antagonize the principal for keeping this school at it's finest and promoting a cultural diversity amongst it's students. As the principal of the school, I certainly think that he has the right to defend our school against speculations from parents who are prejudiced towards political agendas and see it fit to cause an outrage over something that has no tangible proof.

SSA has been recognized for the past few years as an excelling charter school because of it's astounding achievements in academics therefore I would like to point out that this article is defending these harsh claims, or at least suggesting them to the readers. Regardless of the fact that there are Turkish teachers on campus, just as there may be on any other school campus in Arizona, this shouldn't change the idea that this school has an excelling academic system which was reached through the diversity of it's teachers, the administration itself, and willingess of students to strive and achieve.

Regards,

SSA Alumnus
