Finding Vivian Maier

The only thing about Vivian Maier that’s more astonishing than her photos is her story. Although she worked as a nanny her entire adult life and never let anyone see her pictures, Maier took more than 100,000 photos, many of which she never even bothered to develop. When a young real estate agent went looking for old pictures of Chicago architecture and found her prints, he was floored. He committed himself to not only publicizing Maier’s incredible portraits but also finding out how she ticked. Finding Vivian Maier is an unlikely tale, and even if the artist herself comes off as a person you probably wouldn’t have liked, there’s no way to diminish the beauty of her photographs, which were nearly lost to time. Or worse: They were almost never found in the first place.

Finding Vivian Maier is not showing in any theaters in the area.
