Escape From Tomorrow

Rated NR 90 minutes 2013

Hitchcock parked across the street and shot Cary Grant running up the steps because he couldn’t get permission to film North by Northwest inside the United Nations. For Escape from Tomorrow, director Randy Moore snuck into Disney World and shot almost all of his movie there. The doing it is the best part (with terrific black and white cinematography shot on Canon digital SLR cameras a close second), but the storytelling is pretty lazy after you get past the setup of a guy slowly losing his marbles at a theme park. A lot of the screenplay feels like it was spur of the moment or at least undercooked. In fact, beyond the fact that somehow Moore got a complete movie out of it, there’s not a lot to say. But go if you need inspiration to shoot your own movie on a shoestring budget.
