Epic Movie
From the pair of pranksters behind recent spoof flicks Scary Movie and Date Movie is this latest lampoon. But instead of mocking frightening films and cheesy chick flicks, writers/directors Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg take a swing at blockbuster hits of late. Four orphans acquire prestigious golden tickets, which eventually grant them passage through Gnarnia. Throughout their epic journey, the misfit teens find themselves in one blockbuster film after another where intentionally bad impersonations and over-the-top parodies reign supreme, from Pirates of the Caribbean to Nacho Libre and Snakes on a Plane. The occasional political humor falls flat, but there’s pride taken in the purposefully half-assed quality, and viewers should enjoy identifying the next spoofed film.
