I'm still a little jangled from spending five days trying to drink from the sonic fire hose that is SXSW, so forgive me if there are extra typos scattered about this week's issue. We'll have more details about music and film and comedy and how we will soon experience all of that from inside The Matrix in next week's edition, but for now, I can assure that SXSW remains a glorious, loud, chaotic fustercluck like no other.
So what did the team put together in my absence? Staff reporter Kathleen Kunz looks at efforts to track missing and murdered Indigenous women; managing editor Logan Burtch-Buus explains how a terrible neighbor inspired the Oro Valley Town Council to pass an ordinance to deal with excessive pet noise; Tucson Salvage columnist Brian Smith is back with a meditation on midtown's Yume Japanese Gardens; education writer David Safier discovers that some bad math resulted in Arizona getting some unjustified bad news about education funding; arts writer Margaret Regan previews Artifact Dance Project's upcoming reinterpretation of the story of Goliath; and music contributor Brett Callwood talks to Papa Roach ahead of the band's performance at this weekend's KFMADay.
