Dragonfly

Rated NR

"I hear dead people." Kevin Costner returns to his if-you-build-it-he-will-come days with this supernatural thriller that raises a lot of questions about the levels of faith, the possibility of reincarnation, the existence of the after-life, but more importantly the redemption of his career. They are all tough questions to answer, especially the latter. We all want Costner to bounce back from his acting slump. Therefore, we want his character here to heed the warnings of the undead and follow the squiggly crucifix symbols to the rainbow rendezvous in the beyond to find his deceased wife. We want to ignore the skeptical advice of the neighborly Kathy Bates character with her crew-cut hairdo, and deny the laughable shock effects and unexplained plot twists. Really we do, but it's going to be hard. Though, what may be even harder is for Costner to redeem his career, especially with this film.
