Re: “For the Love of History: So Lovely Our State Legislature

Pro AHS is completely wrong. First, the legislature and Governor Brewer directed (via statute) the AHS to continue operating the mineral museum. The AHS elected to close it and loot it in direct violation of the statutes even though they continue to receive the entire budget to this day. They did so even as children were still scheduled to arrive on school tours.

Second, the four options that Dr. Woosley presented did NOT include an option for reopening the mineral museum. All options were continued violations of state statutes. How can you expect the legislature to fund a project that violates state statutes?

Sen. Griffin is correct. The AHS has serious problems that must be addressed. Major issues are summarized on the blog Mineral Museum Madness.

In 2010, the AHS hijacked and then destroyed that once top rated Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum and its K-12 education programs.
