    Re: “Back on the Job
Boo! I supported Kirkpatrick, Barber and Giffords. But what kind of democrats are these? Tonight Barber represented Kirkpatrick at the F35 hearings and totally supported the basing of those horrifically loud and polluting jets in urban Tucson. These people are shilling for HOneywell, Boeing, Lockheed, and don't give a shite about the citizens' health and well being. Like Tucson Forward at fbook, please and help keep these jets out. Boo on Kirkpatrick! Send the jets to her house

    Re: “Recount
If Barber had been fair to the citizens of Tucson and not backhandedly snuck through the resolution abdicating the future of Tucson's elected leaders to Davis Monthan's any and all future missions, I could and would have delivered him 300 votes. I talked with him a week before that city council meeting and "emergency measure" and he knew that was coming up. i told him my concerns about the jets and he nodded smilingly without advising me that I could have an opportunity to address the issues at his pre-arranged city council meeting the then upcoming week. he didn't. it was sneaky and a spit in the face of civilians and the well being of Tucson. So, i voted for him as the lesser of two evils but I could, seriously, have brought him 300 votes if he had been a candidate of integrity. So now, he'll just have to go get a regular job like the rest of us. no more big congressional perks, lifetime pension, lobbyist wining and dining, --- and hopefully live under the new - soon to be delivered to Tucson training roar of Iraqi F16s -- "sounds of freedom." just like the rest of us little breathing bleeding civilian people who don't stand a chance against the War=Jobs Machine God.

    Re: “Noise Fight
great work by Mari and thanks to the Weekly for being one of the few ethical entities to report on this important issue. aside from noise, which has it's own huge share of health problems* the air pollution from fuel and fumes is immeasurably large, and the water pollution from DM has it's own under reported history of plumes and poisons and lawsuits and Superfund clean up issues, there is also the question of exactly how much ground water is DM sucking up? the answers to all of these, cumulatively, shows that any increase has a significant impact on Tucson. the Base already has a significant impact and more will not be better. PS: the base has been operating outside of NEPA rules for decades and the new EA is using a baseline that has never been approved. send letters, folks, to the address in the article but also copy to the Armed Services committee. info will be posted on http://tucsonforward.com/

    Re: “What's the Rush?
i can't understand the permanent destruction of that beautiful environment and the sucking up of our most precious commodity, ground water, in the area just south of us for some possible temporary local jobs. the resources and wealth won't stay here, either; it all goes to some private company in Canada. what are people thinking? its insane. more sellout of the USA: tar sands XL pipeline, Rosement, BP in the Gulf, etc., and all of it is going outside of the US while we get trashed.
also, it would be helpful if the author would have included info on where people can send their public comments, especially since the article is about lack of notice and accessibility to the so-called public meetings.

    Re: “Birthplace Battle
how could rio nuevo own this land? when did they buy it? this is a cultural archaelogical site, publicly owned and in need of preservation. once its covered and destroyed, taking history, community, sustainability, and beauty with it, it will be lost and gone forever. we have to join forces all over tucson, not just in this barrio to stop this. this effects tucson, pima, arizona.
