Re: “Hammering Hayworth

I lived in the congressional district represented by Hayworth for years and am familiar with his time in public life. As I see it, his dismal showing against McCain has little to do with conservative versus moderation or liberal, or tea party verse mainstream, or whatever other label might be applied to the candidates. His present poll numbers are just reflective of people’s accurate assessment of Hayworth the person.

To call J.D. Hayworth a right-winger is really to overstate his significance. He’s just a petulant child who craves attention and the constant spotlight.

Lacking the knowledge, experience, relevant education, or other qualifications for a leadership position, he has made a career by simply turning the volume of his voice up and up and up.

Hayworth describes himself as “passionate” about the issues, but he is just loud. He thinks he is funny – he’s just obnoxious; he thinks he is charismatic – he is just ready and willing to make a spectacle of himself.

The voters showed the disapproval him 2006 and soon enough McCain will beat him. I suspect we won’t have heard to very last from Hayworth, but it will be the beginning of the end, thankfully.
