I know this is a really late comment...but the Decembrists weren't Communists (there was no such thing as Communism, or even Socialism at the time). They were a group of disaffected Russian officers who wanted to overthrow the Czar and establish a more democratic form of government. The revolt was brutally suppressed and the Decembrists were exiled to Siberia. They were influenced by the ideas of the French Revolution (so were the Bolsheviks almost 100 years later, not the ideas of course, but the revolution itself).
