Earnest inventor Flint Lockwood (the voice of Bill Hader) tries to provide food for his hometown, where they only eat sardines. He devises a machine that creates food storms; the storms start with harmless cheeseburgers, but quickly progress to giant flapjacks and humongous steaks falling from the sky. Weathergirl Sam Sparks (voice of Anna Faris) launches her career by covering the phenomenon, while Flint tries to earn her love. The movie is crazy, and makes no apologies for it. I especially liked Flint’s rat-bird invention; they make recurring appearances throughout the film. Other voice talents include Mr. T. as an overly athletic cop, Bruce Campbell as a gluttonous mayor and James Caan as Flint’s dad. It’s absurd, wacky and fun; see it in 3-D if you can.
