An interesting real-life story makes for a not-so-interesting movie. Kevin Spacey plays Jack Abramoff, the corrupt Washington, D.C., lobbyist. The movie is extremely boring, and if it weren’t for the always-great Spacey, it would be completely insufferable. Director George Hickenlooper (who passed away after the film’s completion) tried more of a black-comedy approach, and a lot of the comedy fails, with the movie proving to be more grating than amusing. Even the actors look annoyed at times. The movie simply has no life to it.
