Re: “The Wet Books Are Coming! The Wet Books Are Coming!

homerista, it is that exact history that chicano studies is trying to hide. What's happening now, is a re-writing of Mexican history, starting from when the gringos arrived. My mother is from the 60's chicano era and knows only what she learned back then about being oppresed. However, her children have never experienced that during our time. We are from Tucson and continue to debate with her. I understand what she went through is her reality (those things did happen) but since then , times have changed and what we went thru is our reality (those things never happened) I joke with her this is about some old 60's chicanos still crying about being victims and not about the chicanos from the 70's and on, who have kicked ass and never been oppressed in our lives. We took care of stuff they couldn't. Now the California chicanos are coming here crying about stupid stuff. They're about 50 years too late, and it's embarrassing.
