As promised, The Weekly is debuting two new features this week that we think you'll like.
The first is Media Watch, a weekly feature that will be penned by James Reel. (James, who once was The Weekly editor and has served as our arts editor for the last couple of years, will now take on the title of arts and media editor.) He explains why we're doing the column in his introduction this week. I'll just echo one thing he has to say: It's the job of an alternative newsweekly to do cover the local media, because nobody else will, and somebody needs to do it. And now, in a big way, we are.
The second is Now Showing at Home, a weekly review of new-release DVDs. Bob Grimm, who's been reviewing films for The Weekly for almost a year now (taking the No. 2 reviewer slot behind the ever-esteemed James DiGiovanna), will be writing the column. Grimm's reviews also appear in a number of other alternative newsweeklies, including our sister newspaper, Las Vegas CityLife, and an ally newspaper, the Reno News & Review. But Now Showing at Home is a Weekly print exclusive. Check it out this week.
