I am sorry to say that Danehy made a mistake in where the venue for the small school basketball tournament is locaeted. It is not located in Prescott. It is Prescott Valley. That is seven miles less to travel. As for the AIA, please forgive me for not having the vital information in front of me. So AIA is using the same issues that the NCAA is using for not having a playoff instead of the dreaded BCS championship. Travel cost, missing school, etc. Please spare me the drama. AIA could have done a better job in evaluating the situation before deciding to implement their grand plan. Being a proud parent of an athlete, I appreciate the fact that I can be able to see my daughter play closer to home for away games. I just do not like how they will play schools that will not prepare her for the playoffs. C'mon man!!!! There is no real balance in the way AIA built the schedule. As for a small school coach whining. Well all should whine considering mohst got kind of screw for te big schools benefit. I do not see Scottsdale Chapparel complaining too much.
Char001. Please. Why don't you come out and say Tom is a racist. Here is what you should know about Tom. Political correctness is a thin line that he walks on. As someone who believes that we as a society have come a long way from being the hate filled, social class, race hating bigots we are. Tom does one thing I respect more than all others. He brings a honest opinion not onl about others but about himself too. He doesn't care if the person is a woman, man, black, white, mexican, or bald with one eye. Some people should actually be more like him. By the way, you might need to know the race of his wife and kids before you pull that card out.
I must say that the AIA is trying to fix a hole in a sinking boat. The new format has it's merits but there was no obvious common sense used when designing the new classes. When they divided 5A and 4A into two divisions, their reasoning was to give more schools chances to win titles. But that only gave certain schools room to dominate in certain sports. Now those teams might have competetion but it still leaves schools a chance to dominate. Plus why does football have two extra division and all other sports only four. Hmmmm. Money might be the reason. I also heard that travel cost was part of the reason for the change. Give me a break. AIA could have fixed that years ago. I live in Northern AZ. My daughter's school has a natural rivalry with a school ten miles away but only plays that school once since they moved back up to 4A DI. Why did AIA just move them back into the same region. It took the realignment to do anything. It is time for AIA to be overhauled. Fresh faces and new blood. Maybe a parents perspective could help. Plus administrators should question the legitimacy of the AIA.
