Five Tucson Dive Bars for the Thanksgiving Blues

This list is no particular order, so you choose which establishment you feel is worthy of your abundant time.

The Buffet Crock Pot & Bar: Looking to get an early start to your Thanksgiving day drinking marathon? The legendary bar that's located in the Iron Horse district will be open as early as 6 a.m. Don't like turkey? You should try a delicious hot dog that's been boiled (in beer) all day in a "formerly-almost-state-of-the-art crock pot." There will be a Thanksgiving potluck at 6 p.m. Bring your left overs and good times.

The Bambi Bar: Looking for an intimate and warm place to day drink in Midtown on Thanksgiving? "Your Neighborhood Bar" opens as early as 6 a.m. Do you like to waste your money on claw machines? The Bambi has a crane game full of X-rated videos and kinky toys instead of cheap plush dolls. There will be a full Thanksgiving dinner for you and fellow solitary loved ones.

Mr. Head's Gallery and Bar: Do you like  booze, art and turkey balls? The bar's drink special is $4 shots of a Wild Turkey and Fire Ball whiskey mixed called "Turkey Balls."  To quote the legendary Stan Lee, " 'Nuff said!" Doors open at 8 p.m.

The Shelter Cocktail Lounge: Nothing says Thanksgiving like the award winning Martinis and pictures of JFK. Happy hour and doors open at 6 p.m. Drink specials include $1.50 Pabst Blue Ribbon and $5 Stoli martinis. It's the only place to drink and to remember those found memories from the 60s.

Wooden Nickel Tavern: The Wooden Nickel Tavern is located in the heart of the Barrio Centro. I know what you're asking yourself, "Hey Henry. Is that the joint next to the shady drive-thru liquor store?" Correct! Did I mention there will be karaoke? Who's down to sing some Mariah Carey and Prince tunes? I'm talking to you DJ PJ.
