I Guess We're Going to Phoenix to See Dave Chappelle

While, as a rule, I try to avoid heading to Phoenix for anything, the Oddball Fest, scheduled for September 22 at Desert Sky Pavillion (we're back to calling it that? I can't keep track of this stuff), is precisely the sort of thing worth driving up there for. First of all, Dave Chappelle, whose public appearances have seemingly been limited to one-off gigs promoted only on Twitter, is co-headlining with Flight of the Conchords. That's a big deal in itself, but the rest of the bill is actually great in itself, with the Daily Show's Al Madrigal, Kristen Schaal, John Mulaney, Hannibal Burress and others also scheduled to perform.

Seeing a series of comedy acts in an outdoor amphitheater doesn't seem ideal, but if you enjoy modern comedy at all, this seems like the (within reasonable proximity of Tucson) highlight of the summer.

Tickets go sale Friday and range from $39.00 to $112.25 (including fees).
