Re: “More Money For Education? Beware of Graham-Keegan Bearing Gifts

Why is it always "more money for education" will fix the broken system? I, for one, am tired of the same old whine, because it never works.

Re: “Gen. Michael Flynn, Conspiracy Tweeter and Trump Whisperer, Is a National Security Risk

David,

I neither know enough to comment on your latest anti-Trump appointment diatirade, nor am I concerned at this moment. These issues will be overly discussed in time.

Meanwhile, I support all of his choices, subject to further info. To be sure, I am most excited about Donnie's choices for Defense, HUD and Education. Three long mishandled areas, in my view.

Re: “For More About Betsy DeVos' Priorities, Follow the Money

That she has long supported organizations which share her vision is a strong plus for her nomination. This stands in testament that she truly cares about education issues and sees a path forward to help. I wish we had more like her.

Her contributions to Christian organizations is another very positive factor in her character and character is sadly lacking in the whole of the current administration; indeed totally lacking. When we, as Tucson locals, give to our church on a regular basis, we too support similar intuitions, albeit in a small way. This is a very good thing.

A great choice by Donnie!

Re: “Betsy DeVos Set To Join the Trump Cabinet's Billionaire Boys [and Girls] Club

David,

Why does someone's net worth have to do with your story, except to demonstrate they are successful and most probably good managers. This would, of course, make a person more qualified, at least it does in the real world. And boy, does government need a good dose of real world management!

This lady will bring a positive attitude to the department, something long lacking; a positive attitude for parent empowerment in their child's education and future. Teachers unions fear the parental power that this will bring, as the parents will "shop with their feet" - taking their kids to schools they think best and often at substantial cost in dollars and time. Where is the problem?

Re: “Quick Bites: Help Keep Monsanto Out of Pima County

If UNESCO is for it, my instinct is to be very concerned. I have seen too much of their supposed "good works" in third-world countries, where I have worked for more than 30 years.

Re: “We Stand Together Network

Kris,

A good post indeed, one I understand. I suspect I am a good bit older than you, as I remember the two parties working together under Truman and Eisenhower. To be sure there were many, many differences, but we rebuilt Europe and Japan, kept American labor unions from dominating the economy. JFK got off to a good start, but his successor LBJ sowed the seeds of the discontent we see today.

Against the counsel of America's greatest General, MacArthur, he got us deep into the Vietnam conflict, which divided America. Further, the implemented "The Great Society" which deepened racism and destroyed the American Black family. This further divided America.

Asians and Latinos survived this by assuming individual responsibility and not allowing government to dictate.

Perhaps a third party is the way to go. Teddy Roosevelt attempted it in 1916, but lost and gave the White House to Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat who did little to help America, except set the stage for the Great Depression.
