Shockingly, this MTV-produced film is not
only watchable; its mostly pretty good.
Four Asian teens, sick of doing things that
look good on their college transcripts, form
a crime ring while still getting straight As in
math and science courses. The acting,
especially by lead Parry Shen, is mostly
spot-on, and the story is sad and
unpredictable. Theres a major structural
error in that the film builds to a climax,
reaches it and still has 30 minutes to go,
necessitating the tacking-on of another
plot-line. But the very end is deliciously
ambiguous and hints that maybe crime
does pay which, as anyone who follows
presidential politics knows, is patently true.
