Best Way to Learn the Ways of the Desert

City of Tucson Water$mart Workshops

Sure, we all know about harvesting grain, but rainwater? Should we irrigate a cactus? And what the heck does xeriscape mean, anyway? If these sound like questions you've asked, never fear: Our very own Tucson Water knows the importance of saving the precious resource they distribute, so in collaboration with the University of Arizona's Pima County Cooperative Extension, Water$mart Workshops are offered year-round at the Pima County Cooperative Extension Office at 4140 N. Campbell Ave. You, too, can learn about drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting and desert landscaping without having to read lots of strange instruction manuals or Web sites designed for residents of the United Kingdom. Or fork over any money, for that matter. Consult the schedule online.
