Jason Gardner

Readers Pick

A former high school Mr. Basketball in Indiana, Gardner arrived in Tucson amid much hoopla (pun sorta intended), and he exceeded just about everybody's expectations. He immediately became the point guard, the toughest position on the floor, and led two totally different 'Cat teams (2001, 2003) to No. 1 rankings. Although neither team won the national crown, Gardner will long be remembered for his mental toughness, his physical skills and his scrappy play. Heck, he might even help us forget about Damon Stoudamire.
