READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St. For many, the big bright orange sign that lights up the downtown night and reads "HOTEL CONGRESS" is a beacon of entertainment. Seventy years after that Dillinger guy got caught at the then not-so-famous location, Tucson folk flock to Club Congress at the Hotel Congress for live music, drinks and a damn good jukebox (the only one that I know of that sports Devo and Patsy Cline as juke-neighbors!). LA has its world famous Whisky A Go-Go and New York has the Roxy, but we in Tucson have the Club Congress! This is the place to see top-notch acts with a top-notch sound system, which is so loud you should take caution and bring ear plugs, or buy some from the friendly desk attendant for a measly 50 cents. The Tap Room is a world-class venue with a world-class bar to boot. So check your local listings and wander on in for a great show and reasonably priced drinks. But don't have too much fun and attempt to steal any stage equipment in a drunken frenzy, or they'll stick an unreasonable lifetime "86" on your ass! (Not that we know this from experience.)
