If you've never been to the Tucson Culinary Festival because you're intimidated by all that wine-speak, you may want to check out the Margarita Championship. This will be the championship's fourth year, and this way-fun event gives you not only an opportunity to sample some of the top margaritas and food from some of the best restaurants in town; it also lets you vote on the people's choice winner. ("Celebrity" judges pick a winner, too.) This year, the event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, on the patio at Maynards Market and Kitchen, downtown Tucson's newest hip dining spot. This is a fabulous kickoff to a fabulous local event. Local charities benefit, so there's no need to feel guilty about all that imbibing and noshing. Tickets to the Margarita Championship are $35.
