Reader's Pick: Nimbus wins for the for the second straight year for giving folks what they want- quality products in an friendly, spirited environment. Nimbus has a huge following in this community and shows no signs if slowing down in its secret plan to conquer the beer world.
Reader's Poll Runner-up: Gentle Ben's Brewing Co., 865 E. University Blvd. The venerable brew-pub lost some serious cool points when the original dark, comfy location was slated for demolition/ progress and it moved into its still somewhat new, pristine but bland digs. The brews found within, however, have remained tasty and diverse. Red Cat Amber and MacBlaines Oatmeal Stout are standouts. Rotating seasonal beers keep things interesting and if you like fruity beer, our friend says Taylor Jayne's Raspberry Ale is "very raspberry." A compliment, we think. By the way, if you're not crazy about hangin' with the undergraduates, go by some summer evening. It's downright pleasant.
