Bear Essential News
Bear Essential News has been entertaining and teaching school kids in Tucson since 1920. Just kidding about the date, folks, but with an assortment of current events, games, puzzles, contests and coupons, Bear Essential News offers kids the chance to learn and have fun at the same time. The Young Reporters program gives kids an opportunity to write and get published. Used in classrooms across the city, the newspaper corresponds with the state's standards in both reading and writing. Teachers' guides are also available at three different levels. To quote one regular reader, "If you cut out the coupons, you can get free stuff." A ringing endorsement if there ever was one.
