The Tortolita Gutpluckers

A sighting of this band is only slightly less rare than spotting a "Sand Trout," but if you ever get the chance, see 'em. These guys are funny. These guys are good. These guys are old! For more than 30 years, this group—consisting of a doctor, a biologist, an anthropologist and a couple of other ne'er-do-wells—has entertained Baja Arizona "road houses, music festivals and local hangouts" with a raucous combination of country, folk, bluegrass and string-band music, all laced together with a gut-busting sense of humor and a wash-tub bass. They have one CD so far, the well-worth-tracking-down Wanted: Road Kill Stew, and they keep threatening to cut a second.
