There are some bad puppet shows out there. Many puppeteers think their only audience is toddlers or nursing-home residents. But Puppet Muzik, a local puppet-performance group, makes it clear that puppets rock—literally. The show is a puppet cavalcade of music genres, focusing often on good-old soul. The puppets sing, but really it's more than that: The little black box that holds the performance is like a magic portal. The kiddies sit mesmerized, and eventually, they get up and start dancing—and so do you. On the drive home, you'll smirk and ask yourself, "Was I just dancing to puppets lip-syncing to Tejano and motown?" Yes, you were, and it was good.
