Tending bar is like selling matches to pyromaniacs and hoping nothing catches on fire. Think about it: Booze makes people crazy, and bartenders manage that madness—and nobody handles it more gracefully than Tiger, the daytime bartender at the Tap Room for more than 50 years. Tolerance isn't his only virtue, though; he's also humble, a gifted margarita-maker and one of the most compassionate folks you'll ever meet. He's also quick with a joke or comment and is sure to utter his signature line upon reading this: "Oh, go suck on a dill pickle." The face of downtown has changed quite a bit, but Tiger never has, and we're a better (and more inebriated) city because of it.
