Got a big appetite for sweets and a chunk of change that you want to put toward a good cause (besides filling your belly, that is)? You can't go wrong with Tucson's own Eat More Pie! party and baking contest, an all-you-can-eat, vegan-friendly pie gathering held every spring since 2003. Here's how it works: Bakers prepare their favorite pies and donate them to the party. On the day of the event, lucky judges convene to taste the pies and pick the top three. A little later, Tucson pie-lovers flock to the fete and feast on pie for $3 per slice, or $5 for two. Finally, the top-judged pie is announced, and its baker gets to pick which of the participating local nonprofits will receive the event's entire proceedings. Pie-party on!
