Here's an eye-tickling array of rugs and textiles, ones representing many cultures from various places around the world—as found in the grand palaces and the Vatican, the opium dens, and even the prayer rugs and door covers. Tucsonan Reza Amindavar has traveled the globe extensively, collecting textiles and rugs from far-off lands such as Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran. Several of his lovely pieces that will be displayed are nearly two centuries old and reveal lots of truths—the artful, intricate and regional beauty—found in woven arts. The Splendors of Woven Art: Oriental Rugs and Textiles From the Reza Amindavar Collection runs from July 23 through Oct. 2 at the Tucson Museum of Art, 140 N. Main.
