Balloting Bliss

Welcome to this week's edition of the Tucson Weekly. I am thoroughly depressed delighted to announce the presence in this week's paper of two ballots: The Best of TucsonTM ballot, as well as the Tucson Area Music Awards (TAMMIES) ballot.

The Best of TucsonTM ballot can be found in this week's printed issue. While there are several new categories this year, it's largely the same ballot you've grown to know and love. I strongly encourage all of you to either fill it out and mail it in, or go to the online version and fill it out electronically. Make sure you do it by June 7. A few rules: Fill out at least 20 categories, and make sure you include your address and either a phone number or an e-mail address. If you don't, it won't be counted. Also, vote only once (if you try to vote more than once, we'll send large goons with bad breath after you). And, please: No ballot-stuffing. Anything that goes beyond gentle campaigning--including touching a ballot or an envelope or anything else--is ballot-stuffing, and will not be tolerated. Any suspected stuffed ballots will be thrown out, and any businesses suspected of stuffing ballots may be eliminated from the Best of TucsonTM at my discretion (heh heh heh). Also, if you witness or know of any stuffing attempts, please let me know because if ballot stuffers get away with it, the terrorists win.

The same thing about ballot stuffing goes for the TAMMIES ballot, which can be found inside the Club CrawlTM insert. Those ballots are offered in print only, and must be submitted by May 17.

Thanks in advance for filling out these ballots in an ethical, enthusiastic manner. Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to go weep now, because I have to help count the damn things.
