B-Sides: The Garden

WHAT THE PUNK

Genres are meant to be toyed with, re-tooled and ultimately likely smashed to pieces. Referentially, calling Orange Country's The Garden a "punk band" might be helpful, but the duo isn't exactly emulating The Clash or Black Flag directly. Drawing comparisons to art punk acts like Fugazi or post-punk bands like Gang of Four might be more accurate, but still, the band, comprised of twin brothers Wyatt and Fletcher Shears, offers more with only drums, bass and vocals than you'd expect.

So, come for the free show and stay to figure out just what's going on in The Garden, when the band plays Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.) on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Tucson-based duo Crab Legs (Ben Schneider, Demitri Manos) will open the show with their very own brand of odd, nautically-themed music, along with The Desert Beats. It begins at 8 p.m. and is a 21 and over event.
