B-Sides: Wax Idols

WAX AND WOMAN

Being a woman in any insular male-centric community is rough and tourmates Wax Idols and King Woman know this all too well. After cutting a tour short with metal heavyweights Pentagram, members from each band noted the reasons as generally being "treated really poorly & harassed in gross ways," according to an interview with Vice's Noisey. Though Pentagram's manager then responded in a statement by calling the accusations "unfounded" and "opportunistic," members from each band claim that the disrespect shown to them and general level of grossness (from not getting paid what they were owed to "inappropriate comments" to "touching and stuff") that they were subjected to had them avoiding the green room and hiding in the van.

Luckily, this isn't about Pentagram, though, whose frontman was a no-show on the first night of tour and two hours late the second night. This is about being able to support Wax Idols and King Woman, who have joined forces on their own Levitate Tour. Both bands will play a free show at Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.) on Friday, June 17, along with local metal favorites NORTH. The show starts at 8 p.m. and it is a 21 and over event. Go to hotelcongress.com for more information.
