OH, DARLING

Do you remember that time, maybe about 2007 or 2008, when the pop music consciousness turned to esoteric Jon Brion-esque synth, crooning and moody vocals, dreamy melodies and plucky rhythms? That time when bands like Coconut Records and The Submarines invaded mixtapes with the sort of loungey twee indie pop that's as agreeable as a Twix, or maybe more like a Whatchamacallit? Well, those times don't have to end and, with singer-songwriter Luke Sweeney hitting the road, you can relive that bit of Wes Anderson-directed nostalgia with some sonically sweet and satisfying live music culled from his 2014 release Adventure: Us.

Sweeney plays Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.) on Wednesday, March 23. Doors are at 8 p.m., with Pearl Charles and Casey Golden Band opening. The 21 and over concert is free to attend.
